Golf Course Drainage Design

Turn “cart-path only” days into revenue days. Our specialized golf course drainage design solutions manage surface and subsurface water so fairways, greens, and bunkers drain faster, stay firmer, and recover quickly after storms. We partner with golf course superintendents, architects, and owners to create drainage systems that protect turf, preserve design intent, and reduce costly downtime.

Why Choose Turf Rehab?

Golf-First, Drainage-Obsessed

Turf Rehab isn’t a generic civil firm that “also does” sports. We live in the world of golf course drainage design – fairways, greens, bunkers, cart paths, and everything in between. Our team knows how water moves around your course.

Built Around Playability, Turf Health, and ROI

Our drainage designs are built around playability, turf health, and ROI—reducing rain-related closures, firming up fairways and greens, cutting bunker washouts and emergency repairs, and ultimately boosting revenue and member satisfaction.

The Slit-Drainage Process

Our slit-drainage system is designed to perform in almost any sports environment. By using a 2″ micro-slit pipe, fields and surfaces return to play quickly. Once the drainage cavity reaches saturation, the microslits open and drain the cavity, allowing surface water to move down as pore space opens. The temporary water table then resets after excess surface water is removed, encouraging deeper root growth—so puddles disappear fast. Turf Rehab also uses additional drainage principles and pipe sizes as needed to match the specific requirements of your project.

The result is a healthier, stronger stand of turf. Golf courses can fine-tune surfaces to be firmer and faster, with less damage on drier greens and fairways—and more revenue when carts can go out more often. Athletic fields gain safer footing by eliminating wet, loose turf that leads to slips, injuries, and canceled games or practices. Horse arenas and polo fields stay more stable and less sloppy, improving safety for both riders and horses.

Superintendents also use our system to flush salts from the soil profile. Adding drainage to greens and following proper flushing practices helps reduce harmful salt levels that stress turf and negatively impact putting surfaces.

Environmental, Regulatory, and Sustainability Considerations

Smart drainage isn’t just about getting water off the surface—it’s about managing stormwater responsibly and protecting the environment your course lives in. Turf Rehab designs golf course drainage systems that balance playability, compliance, and sustainability from day one.

Stormwater Compliance and Permitting

Every site comes with its own stormwater regulations, permits, and discharge requirements. Turf Rehab designs drainage systems that manage peak flows and runoff volumes, respect downstream capacity and neighbors, and align with your stormwater permits. We coordinate with local agencies so your drainage plan passes review and performs reliably in real-world storms—not just in calculations.

Erosion, Sediment, and Water Quality Protection

Poorly managed drainage can send sediment, nutrients, and organic material into nearby waterways and create constant repair work on the course. Our designs use stable outfalls, energy dissipation, and erosion and sediment control best practices to keep soils in place and channels stable. That means cleaner water leaving the property and fewer washouts and gullies after heavy rain.

Low-Impact and Sustainable Drainage Solutions

Where conditions allow, we integrate low-impact development (LID) strategies into golf course drainage so performance and sustainability work together. Vegetated swales, bioswales, multi-purpose ponds, and selective infiltration help slow, store, and filter runoff while enhancing course aesthetics. These solutions support groundwater recharge and long-term course resilience without compromising playability or maintenance.

Designed for the Long Term

By aligning drainage design with regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship, Turf Rehab helps you build a course that’s ready for the future. You get firmer, more playable turf, fewer surprises in storm events, and a drainage system that respects your landscape, community, and long-term vision for the property.

Who We Serve

Private and Member Golf Clubs

We help private and member-owned clubs keep their courses firm, fast, and open for play. Our drainage designs support high expectations for conditioning, protect your investment in turf, and reduce “cart-path only” days that frustrate members.

Public and Municipal Golf Courses

For public and municipal facilities, we focus on reliable playability and efficient maintenance. Better drainage means fewer weather-related closures, safer conditions for a wide range of golfers, and more rounds and revenue over the course of the season.

Resort and Destination Golf Courses

Resort and destination properties can’t afford downtime when guests are on site. We design drainage systems that recover quickly after storms, protect aesthetics, and maintain consistent playing conditions so every guest gets a “bucket list” experience.
